4. Moonraker
Speaking of shameless attempts to cash in, try looking a Star Wars fan dead in the eye and telling them the Bond franchise was never inspired by Lucas' work. The incredibly far-fetched Moonraker says otherwise. Bond fans finally saw their hero take to the stars, and it was a truly dreadful experience for all involved. The Spy Who Loved me arguably featured an equally ludicrous plot - the main villain simply wanting to reset mankind under the seas rather than in outer space - but at least it did it first, and gave us a slew of iconic Bond moments such as the introduction of Jaws and the opening ski chase. In fairness, Jaws features in Moonraker too. But he talks. And turns good at the end. Is nothing sacred? This movie also features a legendarily bad sex pun. M and Q attempt to make contact with Bond on his journey back to earth, but he's otherwise occupied with Dr Holly Goodhead. Footage of their embrace flashes up on the monitors back at MI6, prompting M to exclaim "what in God's name is Bond doing?", to which Q replies "I think he's attempting re-entry, sir". Genius. Worst Moment: The climactic laser-gun space station battle. That sentence should tell you all you need to know, really.
