10 Worst Movie Characters Of 2021 (So Far)
3. The Virtuoso - The Virtuoso
If you dared put yourself through this painfully programmatic thriller released earlier this year, you're likely to only remember two things about it: Anthony Hopkins' mailed-in performance - the film ironically releasing mere days after his Best Actor Oscar win - and Anson Mount's shockingly boring protagonist.
Mount plays a nameless hitman who refers to himself only as the Virtuoso, and who gets far more than he bargained for on his latest job. A potentially generic, forgettable character is however rendered memorable in all the wrong ways by Mount's unconvincingly stoic turn.
Between his hilariously wooden voiceover narration and the general ineptitude of his character - especially considering he dubs himself a master of precision - it's tough to imagine a lousier, more incompetent protagonist in a dead-serious hitman movie.
As much as the gloriously hard-boiled voiceover rouses some gut-laughs, this self-anointed virtuoso is anything but, causing the movie to quickly implode as a result.
