10 Worst Movie Plot Twists Of All Time

2. Marie Is The Killer - High Tension

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4-3kulwMRM High Tension is an exhilarating and extremely violent thriller for about 90% of its run-time, before it transpires that the fat murderous truck driver chasing Marie and Alex is, in fact, non-existent, but instead a split personality construct of Marie, who through some sort of misguided lesbian possessiveness, wants to slaughter just about anyone she thinks can get between her and Alex. This is the worst kind of twist, in that it asks us to question everything we've seen but not in a clever way; suddenly various aspects of the story - namely that Marie was able to subdue and kill several men much larger than her waifish self - make little sense, causing the entire film to collapse on itself in spite of the brilliance that came before it. It's extremely frustrating because all of the superb acting, cinematography, gore effects and direction go out the window because of an ill-advised, tacked-on twist. Otherwise this would almost definitely be among the best horrors of the 21st century.
