A not so fantastic return for the space infused superheroes. The film was released to a saturated market and the most recent iteration of the franchise was still in memory. However, the film could have overcome these issues if it was actually good.

The reboot had a great cast and Josh Trank who received acclaim for Chronicle directed. The film looked like it could be a hit, however, changes were made last minute and some radical overhauls of established characters damaged the film prior to its release. Josh Trank was also reported to have trouble making the film, as well as in his personal life. All of this resulted in fans hating it and weirdly, the director writing a scathing review of his own film.

After the film was turbulently put together it was released to terrible reviews. The film was a horrible clash of reshoots and poor initial ideas. The film became a monument to studios and directors clashing and it resulted in a film that failed before it was even released.
