Endless Love, based on the book of the same name, was already turned into a godawful movie starring both Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt back in 1981 (it also gave us that terrible Lionel Richie/Diana Ross duet - ugh!), and this 2014 remake falls into similar territory, though - if you can believe it - it's arguably worse. Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde star as David and Jade, two handsome young lovers who spend the entire movie moving from one cringeworthy scene to another. He's poor; she's sad. They meet, they connect. You know the rest already. The biggest problem with Endless Love is that it isn't really a movie. Mostly, the film just consists of Pettyfer and Wilde staring longingly into each other's eyes on sets that appear to have been shipped in from the covers of magazines, with occasional scenes of conflict occurring between Jade and her constricting father. If super mawkish melodramatic schlock is your thing, then Endless Love might end up being your favourite movie; for the rest of us, it's like sitting through an endless Facebook slideshow featuring a beautiful couple that you really hate.
