10 Worst Sci-Fi Movie Characters Of All Time

If you had to list the worst characters in sci-fi, who would you pick, and why would it be Jar Jar?

What makes a character the worst? It could be that they did something horrible, maybe their only reason for being there was to drive the plot in an aggressively annoying way, or they simply have no appeal — truly, there are tons of possibilities.

When it comes to science-fiction, it could be any of those, and more. The worst characters in sci-fi can be anyone, really, but there are definitely some names that come to most people's minds right away... *cough* Jar Jar *cough*

Regardless, most of the characters the fans either don't like or love to hate are often considered to be the worst for their onscreen behavior, or for whatever they did in their given story. Maybe they let all the dinosaurs out of their paddocks, or they wouldn't stop screaming no matter what was going on. It could be anything.

These 10 characters were certainly given a purpose, but that doesn't mean the audience had to fall in love with them. There are message boards devoted to how despised these characters were, and while it's often not the fault of the actors playing them, some of these are just the worst.

10. Jar Jar Binks

There was no way Jar Jar Binks wasn't going to make his way onto this list, but he's getting dealt with early, seeing as he's little more than low-hanging fruit. This silly Gungan was annoying, a clumsy oaf, and an obvious attempt at comic relief, but that doesn't mean he wasn't useful.

After helping the Jedi make their way to the capital city of Naboo, he manages to then help the Queen negotiate an alliance between her people and the Gungans. When he's given the rank of General to fight the droid army, he manages to mess everything up, which somehow helps take out a ton of droids and tanks.

Fast-forward a decade, and he's the acting Senator of Naboo, representing the planet's affairs in the Galactic Senate while Senator Amidala was absent. He was manipulated by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine to propose the Chancellor be granted emergency executive powers to raise a Grand Army of the Republic.

Binks' proposal was the key moment in Palpatine's plan that elevated him from being a representative to becoming the Emperor. Later, Binks was once more ostracised by his people due to his role in bringing about the end of the Republic, and he spent his later days working as a street performer in the capital city of Naboo.
