9. Alien 3
I chose this over Alien Resurrection because Alien 3 is the point where the whole franchise started to go wrong and is therefore to blame for all that followed. The film has been disowned by director David Fincher and it is easy to see why. It had a troubled production and the film is a mess. The studio interference and multiple script re-writes clearly show in the finished movie. The premise of a prison planet is a seemingly good one but the film is a pompous, boring mess far removed from the terrifying claustrophobia of the first two films.
