Based on the Nathaniel Hawthorne novel of the same name, The Scarlet Letter follows Hester Prynn (played by Demi Moore) who is forced to wear a scarlet A on her clothing to signify her disgrace as an adulterer. Raising her daughter Pearl by herself, Hester must do whatever it takes to keep her child in her custody. While there has been several adaptations of the novel over the years, the 1995 version is hands down the worst. It takes an awful lot of liberties with the story, deviating quite a bit from the novel, which isnt necessarily a bad thing but in this caseyeah, it sort of is. Though, ultimately any comparison to the book is pointless, even if there had been no novel to compare it with, the film would ultimately still be quite terrible. Even still, Hawthorne must be turning in his grave.
