10 WTF Scenes In Otherwise Awesome Recent Movies

9. Charon's Ill-Timed Death - John Wick: Chapter 4

The Whale Brendan Fraser
Lionsgate

John Wick: Chapter 4 just might be one of the greatest fourth movies in a franchise ever, yet there is one unfortunate, ill-timed aspect of its story which cast a dark pall over the brilliance of it all.

After the Continental's concierge Charon (Lance Reddick) finally got to flex his action muscles in the third film, fans were eager to see him back for a more action-orientated role in number four, especially after he tragically passed away just a week before the movie's release.

And so it sucked to sit down for John Wick: Chapter 4 and, within a few scenes, see Charon get executed by the High Table's Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont (Bill SkarsgÄrd) as punishment for Winston (Ian McShane) failing to execute John (Keanu Reeves).

The filmmakers obviously can't be blamed for real life intruding upon their plans, but seeing Reddick's character die on screen mere days after the actor himself did made it a uniquely haunting experience.
