10 Young Actresses Who Are Ready For Oscar Glory

1. Jennifer Lawrence

I know I began by announcing that sure bet Anne Hathaway wasn€™t on this list, and yet heavy odds suggest that one of these last two entries will also be heading home a winner on Sunday. Forgive me if this feels like I€™m breaking my own rules, but I justify this because at least one of these two women won€™t be winning and there are few who would question that they will both have their names in special envelopes soon. Much like Jessica (but in a way even more so than Jessica), Jennifer has taken the industry by storm over the last few years. Her meteoric rise has been well documented, but in a nutshell, she began as an indie darling and gained notoriety with her Oscar nominated role of Ree in Winter€™s Bone. She next worked in the underrated films Like Crazy and The Beaver before leaping into the blockbuster scene playing Mystique in X-Men: First Class. And then 2012 happened and she took the leads of Katniss in the $400 million (domestic) hit The Hunger Games and Tiffany in the critically adored romantic comedy Silver Linings Playbook. So basically she has proven she can be a major box office draw and a consistently lauded performer. How many actors would hire Rumpelstiltskin to have that sort of status? Entertainment Weekly gives Jennifer a 5% advantage over Jessica in this year€™s Oscar race, but even if she fails to score at the 85th Academy Awards, she could be back on the big stage soon with either of two reunions with Bradley Cooper--Serena and David O. Russell€™s untitled next feature. There€™s my list. Let me know who I€™ve forgotten or which of my inclusions won€™t ever finish first in the comments section below.

I humbly claim the title of renaissance man. I am a professional writer (published playwright), college soccer coach, world traveler, crime-fighting vigilante, part-time juggler, serious hiker, coin collector, counseling student, and doting father/husband among many other roles. (OK, one of those may not be true.)
