10 Zombie Films Livelier Than Fear The Walking Dead

8. Zombie Island Massacre

If you’re unfamiliar with Rita Jenrette, she’s the political wife who reacted to her husband’s indictment on bribery charges by posing for Playboy, where she gave a tell-all interview revealing how she’d attended Washington hot tub parties and had sex on the Capitol steps. She’s also the female lead in Zombie Island Massacre, whose three gratuitous nude scenes (in the first 20 minutes) explain why she never campaigned for an Oscar – she already had two Golden Globes.

On the Caribbean island of St Monique (or its stock footage equivalent), Rita witnesses a corpse being raised from the dead during a voodoo ritual, whetting the viewer’s appetite for a zombie assault that equals the awe and majesty of Uwe Boll’s House Of The Dead. Alas, no such assault occurs because the filmmakers pull the rug out from under us with a Scooby Doo ending.

The voodoo shtick turns out to be a cover for a smuggling operation, all the flesh eaters are actors and, most comically, one of the guys in Rita’s tour group is an undercover DEA agent. Just as it seems things can’t possibly get any sillier, Rita sings the theme song, Di Reggae Picnic.

She subsequently retired from acting.
