10 Zombie Movies You Must See Before You Die

3. Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

If you haven’t noticed yet, Zombies make for really hilarious films - and this Edgar Wright classic is one of the funniest. Film #1 of his ‘Cornetto Trilogy’ which he co-writes with starring actor Simon Pegg, Wright pays homage to zombie films of past by honouring their rules while knowingly poking fun at them.

Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the beer-guzzling layabouts who, when the zombie outbreak occurs, care more about their lost pub time than the fate of the world around them. The individuality of the film comes from Wright playing his human characters in the foreground while the undead play backing characters to the interpersonal lives of this cast of modern British acting legends.

The film is unapologetically British, with a cast of characters that genuinely could be your mums best mate, the old bloke from your local pub or the people you’ve gone to school with. It combines the classic British stiff upper lip approach to problems with a post-apocalyptic landscape and answers the question ‘What if a Zombie breakout happened in my village tomorrow?’

How well will you cope when the undead come knocking?
