11. Fables
Fables is a comic book series about characters from well know fairy tales such as Snow White and The Wolf who have been forced out of their fantasy world by The Adversary and into our realm, more specifically New York City. Here, they try to blend in with the humans, the ones who struggle to disguise themselves like the talking Pigs and Monsters, live on a farm in upstate New York. The series is written by Bill Willingham and published by Vertigo. All the characters are shown how they would behave in the real world, for example Prince Charming is a sleazy, sweet talker who uses women for his own ends, The Wolf is a detective and goes by the name Bigby and Pinocchio is pissed off that when he got his wish to be a real boy, he didn't realise it would mean he would stay as a child. With a cast of well know characters that have been given a unique twist, you follow their stories as they try to exist in our world and form a new community.
How Close Is It To Being Made?: In 2005, NBC started developing a TV series but it was dropped early on in the scripting stage but went on to amazingly produce Grimm, a police drama where fairy tales are real...sound familiar? Then in 2008, ABC started developing a Fables TV series and again it got dropped. However ABC produced Once Upon A Time, a show about fairy tale characters who have been banished to the real world....hmmm.
Casting Choices: If TV networks stop blatantly plagiarizing Fabels and turned the comic it into a TV series, who should be cast? There are a large number of characters but Bigsby, Snow White, Prince Charming and Jack Horner are the main focus, so here are my dream pics for who could play them. Bigby (The Wolf) - Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maybe a cross between Kindergarten Cop and End Of days. Snow White - Jennifer Connely would be awesome. Prince Charming - Christian Bale or Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Jack Horner - Josh Holloway maybe.
