11 Awesome Movie Characters Stupidly Killed Off In Sequels

8. Johnny Cage - Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Mortal Kombat AnnihliationHow He Died: Appearing only briefly at the start of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Cage tries to Sonya Blade after Shao Kahn takes her hostage, but is promptly beaten down. After double-crossing Lord Raiden, Kahn snaps Cage's neck, killing him. Why It Sucks: Because he was pretty much the best thing about the first film, wise-cracking and basically being a hilarious jackass. While not played by Linden Ashby this time around, it still would have made sense to keep him in the film, unless the fear on Paul W.S. Anderson's part was that audiences would not accept another actor for such a memorable role. Either way, it's a dumb decision, one that annoyed pretty much every fan of the video games, and did nothing to help the film's already hugely unfavourable reception.
