Who Are They?: Newt, the little girl from the human colony whose family have been killed by the Xenomorphs, and finds herself constantly on the run, while Ripley becomes especially attached to her over the course of the movie. Hicks was one of the few Marines with an actual brain, level-headed and courageous in ways they weren't.
How Do They Die?: The pods Newt and Hicks are travelling in crash, causing Newt to drown, while Hicks is impaled by a support beam.
Why They Should Have Lived: Our entire emotional drive for Aliens was in making sure that Newt survived, and her being so summarily written out, along with another extremely likable character, is proof enough that the third Alien film should never have happened. These characters were now vital to whatever story was going to be told next, and yet they're dispensed with as though they meant nothing. Which awesome movie characters' deaths annoyed you the most?
