11 Awesome Movie Characters We Really Didn't Want To Die

7. Billy Bibbit - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Brad DourifWho Is He?: A nervous young man residing in the mental institution with protagonist Randle McMurphy, noted for his prominent stutter. How Does He Die?: After having sex with a party girl who Mac invites into the institution at night, Billy is discovered by Nurse Rached, who threatens to tell Billy's mother what he's been up to. Billy, who had just managed to speak without a stutter, begins stuttering again out of fear, and ends up slitting his own throat. As a result, Mac almost chokes Rached to death. Why He Should Have Lived: He's such a likable character; far away from the more showy histrionics of Nicholson's performance, Dourif gives an agreeably subdued turn that helps make Billy's death the film's most shocking and heart-rending moment.
