8. Jessica Alba vs. Tim Story - Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

You can reasonably expect directors to direct their stars, even when it comes to making movies as universally bashed as the original Fantastic Four sequel, Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

The film wasn't the best experience for Jessica Alba, apparently, which should be pretty clear from the fact that there is an entire sequence that seems to have been thought up solely to get her in her underwear. In similar terms, she clashed with director Tim Story over her appearance while crying, because that's what everyone is concerned about when they're upset.

As Alba revealed years after the film was proclaimed a failure, the film made her want to quit altogether:

"I wanted to stop acting.... I remember when I was dying in 'Silver Surfer'. The director was like, 'It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica. ...'" He was like, 'Don't do that thing with your face. Just make it flat. We can CGI the tears in.' And I'm like, But there's no connection to a human being. And then it got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough? Do people hate them so much that they don't want me to be a person? Am I not allowed to be a person in my work? And so I just said, 'F--k it. I don't care about this business anymore.'"

Not exactly a pleasant way to treat your actors.
