11 Crucial Things Star Wars Episode 8 Needs

9. Expanded Roles For Poe Dameron & Captain Phasma

Considering that Poe Dameron was marketed as one of the three new protagonists for the sequel trilogy, it's surprising how much of a supporting character he is compared to both Rey and Finn. After his ship crashes in the desert, he's absent for a lengthy period of time, and doesn't figure much into things again until the final trench run. On the other hand, there's Captain Phasma, who was heavily featured in trailers as this bada** new antagonist...who barely gets to do anything at all. She's captured and thrown down a trash chute...and that's pretty much it. We know that she'll be back for Episode VIII, so hopefully we'll get to see her proving her worth a little more and engaging in more direct combat. If not, what's the point of even having the character? Granted, Episode VII had to introduce so many new characters that there was no way for everyone to get their fair shake, but now that's been done, Episode VIII needs to focus in on those who got a short shrift the first time.
