This is a better ending than anyone could have imagined It's looking like it's all over: and what a fabulous ending. Andy escaping and picking up the money, the warden shooting himself, and the arrests of the horrible prison guards all serve as reason to open yet another bottle of champagne and cheer with glee for the perfect wrapping up of what could have turned into quite a miserable tale. Let's spare a moment here to feel for all those prisoners left behind - can you imagine how gutted Red especially must have felt to be left behind by his best friend? Ah well, he escaped, and that's really all that matters.
