The Great Actor: If you asked someone to name an actor who played Dracula they'd immediately say Christopher Lee, but only because Bela Lugosi is such a pain to spell. Playing the vampire in Universal's 1931 Dracula, his portrayal remains the definitive take on the character, with any subsequent version deviating from it feeling revisionist. Although he played the Count only once, it would go on to dominate Lugosi's career, with him becoming a go-to face of horror (his Hungarian accent no doubt played a part in that). The Terrible Final Role: Ghoul Man - Plan 9 From Outer Space Despite his earlier success, later in life Lugosi found himself in obscurity. That is until Ed Wood came along, offering the former star all manner of different horror roles in his widely derided B-Movies. Many of these involved invoking Lugosi's previous iconic role, with the final appearance coming in Plan 9 From Outer Space. Reusing footage from a project scrapped after the star's death, Wood only including the actor so his name could appear on the poster. This was brilliantly dramatised by Tim Burton in Ed Wood, with Martin Landau playing Lugosi.
