Picking out single moments in the exceptional Captain America sequel is a fairly difficult prospect: despite the commitment to set-pieces that matches the film's MCU billing, the reason it worked so well was all about the tone and the way it was written rather than the flashpoints that fans retread on the car journey home and trade with excitement on forums. In channelling 1970s political intrigue movies to help expose the hive of HYDRA, the Russos pulled a masterstoke and showed the Thor sequel up entirely as a wayward attempt to increase the stakes with too little intellect. The result was a multi-textured thing of beauty, which ended up feeling more substantial than either of the Iron Man sequels, and which avoided the urge to trade only on the mythology and iconic status of the character. But that's not to say there weren't brilliant individual moments; and to stop anyone suspecting that Cap was being reinvented into either Woodward or Bernstein with a shield, he got genuine superhuman moments like the lift sequence that saw him impressively take down an entire squadron of HYDRA meat-heads. That "before we get started, does anyone want to get out...?" line was just beautifully throw-away.
