11 Major VFX Errors You Won't Believe Were Missed
2. Raptor On The Menu - Jurassic Park
There are few films that can truly stand the test of time, particularly when it comes to visual effects. There are so many leaps in the technology that everything that was once innovative is rendered outdated in a matter of a couple of years.
So it's remarkable that Jurassic Park seems to hold up so well. It's still impressive to watch now, which is a remarkable achievement. But just like the rest on this list, there is one error that most won’t believe they or the VFX team missed.
In the sequence in which Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Tim and Lex are trying to escape the park pursued by velociraptors, it looks like they are done for as they become cornered in the main foyer.
But it looks like raptor is on the menu instead, as the four are unintentionally saved by the T-Rex who chomps one of the leaping raptors out of its pounce in midair. Look closely though and just for a single frame, the velociraptor in its mouth completely disappears.
Why did this happen? Well, computing power back in the 90s wasn’t like it was today - so Spielberg and crew should be thankfully this took place at an almost indistinguishable point. If they had noticed it back then, something like this could’ve taken months to fix.
