5. Indy Originally Faced Off Against A Horde Of Supernatural Zombies In Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom

When Steven Spielberg and George Lucas set out to create the follow-up to their sensational hit Raiders of the Lost Ark, George Lucas was going through an untimely divorce, and Steven Spielberg had to take orders from George Lucas (who gets to make up the stories for these things), so guess what happened? We got a far darker movie, complete with voodoo cults, semi-racist dinner sequences, and lots and lots of scenes with children getting abused and whipped. Some divorce. In the end, Temple of Doom came through as something of a near-classic, and it's enjoyed an increasingly warmer reception as time has gone on. Still, although this flick has a few usages of black magic, can you imagine if it had turned out as originally planned, with Indy going up against actual zombies? Seriously. The first draft called for our hero to face off against Kali blood-hypnotised monsters, transformed into terrifying brutes with supernatural powers. Some of these ideas remained in the final flick, of course, but were ultimately toned down.
