Friday the 13th: Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan is the first instalment where Jason Voorhees ventures out of Crystal Lake. As the title suggests, the hockey-mask wearing maniac decides to mix things up by going on a killing spree in The Big Apple.

Like nearly every entry in the franchise, Jason Takes Manhattan was panned by critics. Although the sequel had various issues, the main problem was how misleading the title was, since Jason doesn't reach Manhattan until the very end!

What makes the film more disappointing is the fact it was promoted so well. In the teaser, we see a mysterious man from behind admiring the surroundings of New York. As blues music plays in the background you assume this trailer is for a rom-com or a light-hearted drama.

Suddenly, the figure swings around, revealing the machete-wielding Jason Voorhees, causing onlookers to scream in terror.

Even though this footage was created solely for the trailer, it heavily implies Jason spends most of the run-time in NYC. Because of this, many viewers have joked that Jason appears in Manhattan in the trailer more than the movie. Although this is an obvious embellishment, the truth isn't far off.
