11 Perfect Casting Choices That Made Comic Book Movies

4. Sir Patrick Stewart As Professor X

Patrick Stewart portrayed the wheelchair-bound telepath Professor Xavier in X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past and in cameos in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine. He has played a man determined to help mutants and humans live harmoniously and who has set-up a school for mutants with nowhere else to go to find refuge and solace. He does so by presenting the character as authoritative, yet caring and calming at the same time - and he does so brilliantly. The character is extremely powerful and, without being cocky or a a show-off about it, he asserts the fact that he possesses that power in no uncertain terms. The younger version of the character has been portrayed by James McAvoy, but there's no doubting that the original and best portrayal of the character was by Stewart. He delivered and maintains the message of what the X-Men are all about with great confidence and clarity and he is certainly one of the reasons the movies have been such a great success. His undeniable resemblance to the bald comic book version of the character has gone a long way to help matters too.
