11 Unexpected Actors Who Might Win Oscars In 2019

1. Robert Pattinson - High Life

The Role: Monte, a criminal forced to head into space on an energy-seeking mission, along with his daughter Willow (Jessie Ross), who was created against his will via artificial insemination.

Why He Might Win: Many feel that Robert Pattinson should've received a Best Actor Oscar (or at least a nomination) for his splendid work in last year's neo-noir Good Time, and with everyone slowly realising that Pattinson has more to offer the world than Twilight, perhaps the Academy will make it up to him next year.

Claire Denis (Beau Travail) is one hell of an actor's director, and so it's highly likely she could tease out Pattinson's very best performance to date.

Why It's Unexpected: For one, Pattinson's history with Twilight still clings to him as it also does Kristen Stewart, despite both of them turning in plenty of solid art-house work in recent years.

Plus, Denis' films are typically too small-scale and low-key for the Academy, but this being her first foray into sci-fi, while teaming with an actor of Pattinson's visibility, will surely make it her highest-profile release to date.
