11 Unexpected Actors Who Might Win Oscars Next Year
1. Harrison Ford - Blade Runner 2049
The Role: Rick Deckard, the former blade runner who fell off the grid three decades prior, and is tracked down by LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling).
Why He Might Win: Incredibly, Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar and only been nominated once, for Witness in 1986. He's long overdue a win, and could certainly steal away the Best Supporting Actor gong by reprising one of his most beloved characters.
Considering Ford's age, this could basically end up being a glorified Lifetime Achievement Oscar, but given the talent attached to the movie (especially master filmmaker Denis Villeneuve), it'd probably be a well-deserved win all the same.
Why It's Unexpected: Most fans probably gave up on Ford winning an Oscar a long time ago, and especially after he failed to be recognised for his final performance as Han Solo. Again, sci-fi is a bit tricky with the Academy, but it will probably be difficult for them to ignore what's likely to be one of the year's most fascinating and buzzed-about movies.
