12 "Adult" Movie Moments Sony Don't Want Kids To See
11. Billy's Temper - Moneyball
Moneyball is not a kids' movie: not because it is drenched in filth or gore, or is particularly intense, but because it's based on a concept that few younger audiences would be all that interested in. Sure, they'll probably enjoy the tail of the underdog valiantly fighting against the tide and the sports element, but how many kids want to explore the finer points of sabermetrics explained with a dense Aaron Sorkin script?
Putting the film in amongst the "Clean" titles is weird in the first place, but it's even more odd because literally the only thing that could possibly need removing are the human explosions of anger Brad Pitt's Billy Beane is fond of when his team defy his genius approach to baseball management.
Robbing the film of that intensity is just ludicrous, and will make Beane's character uneven and inauthentic. But they can be the only things subject to cuts (unless the Sony censors have pain-stakingly removed all of the chewing tobacco...)
