The Acclaim: A wonderfully-animated and gloriously goofy subversion of one of pop-culture's greatest superheroes, The Lego Batman Movie was deemed a smart and fun love letter to Batman in all his forms.
Why Everyone Will Hate It: Can you actually remember much from this movie at all? It came and went with a surprisingly minimal amount of fanfare, as many realised that The Lego Movie's novelty was already beginning to wear off, and this film just couldn't deliver the same freshness as 2014's smash hit original.
It's hard to actively despise a movie like this, but like the recent Lego Ninjago Movie confirmed, Warner Bros. seems content to churn out these films with popular properties attached even when the inspiration isn't quite there for a truly great movie.
As people cobble together their year-end movie lists, they'll forget this one even came out, which is pretty much the worst thing you could say about it.
