You get the sense that Jim Carrey could work an awful lot more if he wanted to, but he's made some odd choices since very publicly denouncing his own role in Kick-Ass 2 over concerns on violence, including recent release Dark Crimes, which scored him a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But he's still the same Jim Carrey and if you put aside his decision to make Dumb And Dumber To, he's still got the same charm (which came across in spades in documentary Jim & Andy) and it's a shame we don't get to see it enough. Thankfully, though his TV revival with Kidding - in which he plays kids TV legend Mr Pickles, whose life unravels - should give him a chance to balance buffoonery and pathos, which is definitely his jam.

And then on top of that, he's scored the more typically Carrey-like role of Dr Robotnik in the upcoming Sonic movie, so it's likely we'll be talking about him a lot more soon.
