12 Actors Who Immersed Themselves Too Far In Movie Scenes

9. Dolph Lundgren - Rocky IV

Ivan Drago is the most memorable character in Rocky IV (which is impressive since it stars James Brown and a singing robot). The movie emphasises that this Soviet juggernaut isn't just strong; his power is borderline inhuman.

Although the character seems larger-than-life, the actor portraying him, Dolph Lundgren, genuinely struggled controlling his freakish strength while shooting his scenes. Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed, found Lundgren too aggressive and intense while filming their boxing scene. When Lundgren hurled him into the corner, Weathers stormed off and called his agent, telling him he was quitting the film.

Even though Sylvester Stallone resolved the issue, problems with Lundgren weren't finished. While rehearsing the climactic battle, Lundgren punched Sly so hard, it caused the pericardial sac around his heart to swell. Sly was rushed to the emergency room via plane and informed the doctors he was injured after an actor hit him too hard.

However, the medical staff didn't believe him! They said his injury was so extreme, it couldn't be caused by a human being. Based on his x-ray, they assumed he suffered a "head-on collision" with a vehicle.
