12 Actors Who Should Play The Joker In Scorsese's Origin Movie

1. Will Poulter

Had It gone another way, we would have seen Will Poulter playing Pennywise the clown, rather than Bill Skarsgard, and we've been robbed of a potentially great performance by that change. That's not to say that Skarsgard won't do well in the role, but Poulter has seemed poised to break out with one incredible performance for some time now.

He may well have found that break-out with his exceptional performance in Detroit, which has already landed him a lot of praise. His is a performance that provokes a response, and that's exactly what we should all want from our Joker. He's set for a lot more work, and it would a great get by Warner Bros to hand him the Joker as one of his next big projects.

It obviously helps his cause that he has a particularly enigmatic face too, which doesn't take a great deal of imagination to see as Mr J (those eyebrows are almost Jack Nicholson-like).
