12 Actors Who Were Brilliant In Utterly Sh*t Movies

1. Gary Oldman - Tiptoes

Gary Oldman is as unpredictable as he is brilliant, taking on roles which span genres and ably portraying massively disparate characters. Director Matthew Bright obviously acknowledged Oldman€™s chameleonic acting ability and decided that the best way to utilise this was by having him kneel in a pair of shoes and pretend to be a dwarf. Aside from being offensive full stop, the movie also featured the immensely talented Peter Dinklage relegated to comic relief; which makes the casting decision even more baffling.

The plot revolves around Matthew McConaughey€™s character trying to convince his girlfriend to terminate her pregnancy because he is the only member of his family without dwarfism and is fearful of his child inheriting the gene. You might think that sounds horrendously inappropriate and you€™d be 100% correct. Only Oldman€™s performance makes this insane circus of batsh*ttery worth a watch.

Sympathetic, down to earth and charming, his character Rolfe provided nuance and subtlety to a movie that didn€™t know the definition of the words. Thanks to his ability to truly inhabit a role, the viewer almost forgets that they€™re watching a man pretend to be half his actual size which, for the record, is only appropriate in adaptations of Tolkien€™s works.
