12 Bafflingly High 2018 IMDB Scores You Will Not Believe

2. Bohemian Rhapsody (8.3)

Much like Aquaman, Bohemian Rhapsody has been one of 2018's biggest surprise success stories.

Despite wildly mixed reviews, the Freddie Mercury biopic has landed $750+ million at the box office, shockingly won the Golden Globe for Best Picture (Drama), and with a stonking 8.3 IMDB score, also holds the #136 spot on IMDB's Top 250 Movies.

This places it above the classic likes of Inside Out (8.2), Blade Runner (8.2), Trainspotting (8.2), There Will Be Blood (8.2), No Country for Old Men (8.1), Fargo (8.1), Jurassic Park (8.1), Mad Max: Fury Road (8.1), Logan (8.1), Rocky (8.1), and literally dozens of other all-timer, Oscar-winning movies.

There's no doubting that the movie struck a chord with audiences, but come on. Rami Malek gives a splendid performance as Mercury, but at its core this film is a thoroughly stock biopic that unmistakably feels like a breezy Wikipedia summary translated to the big screen.

The Score It Deserves: Malek and the unmistakable power of the music prop this one up to a three-star 6.0, but for casual audiences, its broad approach clearly hit a much stronger, crowd-pleasing note.
