OK, so some of them are pretty bad. Jack Of All Trades, effectively a star vehicle for Bruce Campbell (star!) and Angela Dotchin (who?), appeared in 2000 on NBC's Universal Television. Most of Campbell's TV work to date hasn't actually been so bad (compared with a large percentage of his film work), but Jack Of All Trades is undoubtedly the weakest of the bunch. Pretty much the entire plot of the show is summed up in its irritatingly catchy theme song - which was somehow nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding (yes, that's outstanding...) Main Theme Title Song:
"In 1801, the Revolution had been won and Uncle Sam's favourite son had a job that needed done. Which brought Jack to a lady, both beautiful and smart, who found his mix intriguing - a scoundrel with a heart!"
Yes, set in 1801, Jack Of All Trades stars Campbell and Dotchin as Jack and Emilia secret agents attempting to undermine Napoleon's rule on the island of Pulau-Pulau. It effectively amounts to a group of half hour gag reels in which the "hero" Jack makes embarrassingly limp one-liner after embarrassingly limp one-liner while Emilia saves the day like she's the Spot The Cat to Jack's inept Hong Kong Phooey. The stories are awful, the dialogue is poor, and the sets look like they're made entirely from polystyrene. This is usually the moment that is followed with the statement "the show was cancelled rapidly". But no - perhaps owing to the Emmy win, Jack Of All Trades managed to run for two full seasons before it concluded.
