12 Best Films & TV Shows Starring Bruce Campbell

9. Burn Notice

In recent years Campbell has arguably started to gain wider recognition owing to his role as former Navy SEAL Sam Axe in the USA Network series Burn Notice. Burn Notice, the story of a spy who has been "burned" (or cut off from his agency), was fairly successful during its 7 season run, and Sam was perhaps its most entertaining aspect. A smooth-talking ladies' man, Sam fits Campbell's oft-cheesy performance style brilliantly. He is the perfect foil for the more straight-laced leading figures of Michael and Fiona, and it is enjoyable to see Campbell in such a comfortable and prominent televisual role. Plenty of episodes thrust him right to the forefront of the narrative, and he does an excellent job. Of course, Burn Notice is fairly formulaic as a show. It's hardly the greatest television series ever produced. But it certainly gained Campbell exposure beyond practically anything else that he has done to date. It also may have helped to shift some copies of his largely under-read but absolutely hilarious books: the biographical If Chins Could Kill: Confessions Of A B-Movie Actor and the novel Make Love The Bruce Campbell Way.
