12 Best Movies To Netflix And Chill To

9. Rent (2005)

Rent movie 2005

Rent is one of the most successful Broadway shows of all time, counting a Pulitzer prize and numerous Tonys amongst the awards its won since the mid 90's. The story captures a unique time and place, following a group of young Bohemians as they struggle to navigate a world of sex, drugs and disease in New York City.

Chris Columbus's cinematic adaptation of the show is the same in almost every respect, except that's it's just not very good. Despite using the majority of the same cast, the film version of Rent fails to translate what made the original play so iconic. The most powerful and heart-wrenching scenes lose the majority of their power somewhere in the transition from the stage to the big screen.

An average play adaptation about the impact of AIDs may not sound like the ideal movie to inspire canoodling, but the films one saving grace is the music. Just press play and let classic songs like 'Out Tonight' and 'Take Me Or Leave Me' provide the soundtrack to your chill session. If you do end up catching some of Rent's sadder moments in between songs, just hope you're not sharing your bed with a crier or you may find yourself sans chill for the rest of the night.
