3. What Happened To Sterns (And Betty)?

Some ideas plotted in early Marvel films were pretty much dropped out of existence before the studio really hit its stride and starting hitting homers every time. That very much goes for most of the narrative in The Incredible Hulk, even though it is still classed as part of the MCU and is far more relevant now thanks to the reappearance of Thunderbolt Ross in Civil War.

So with him back in the game, it's interesting to look back at some of the other plot points that weren't resolved in Hulk's reboot. For instance, how come a legitimate - and pretty ominous - origin story for Dr Samuel Sterns ended up going nowhere? In the comics, he would go on to become The Leader, a supervillain who would be worthy of another Hulk movie (or even mainlining as an Avengers villain), but in the MCU he's been completely forgotten. Presumably we're supposed to believe that gamma mutation led to nothing and he's still going about his day as usual, albeit with a massive cauliflower head.

And what about Betty Ross? Is she just another former love interest for Marvel to throw on the pile of rejects topped by that waitress from The Avengers, Pepper Potts and Jane Foster? That's callous and ruddy sexist, if you ask me: she's supposed to be the love of Hulk's life and far more important than his nearly fling with Black Widow.
