12 Critically Acclaimed Recent Movies That Actually Sucked

1. Solo: A Star Wars Story

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 71% (6.4/10)

What The Critics Said: In fairness, the critical consensus for Solo was most certainly boosted by the basement-low expectations generated by the various pre-release production troubles.

As such, critics saw the movie, decided, "You know what? It wasn't totally terrible", and slapped three stars on it.

Why It Actually Sucked: Why did this movie even need to exist? Look, it's not completely awful, and Ron Howard deserves a measure of credit for actually pulling off a coherent end product, but from the excess of fan service to the underdeveloped characters, it just never fails to fully justify its own existence.

The most intriguing elements, ironically enough, are the hints at the wider Star Wars universe rather than the movie's direct attempts to demystify the Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) character.

The visuals, meanwhile, are disappointingly dark and drab, while its strained attempts to set-up even more new Star Wars movies feels like more of a threat than something to be excited about.
