9. Nakatomi Plaza Is Actually 20th Century Fox's HQ
The high-tech skyscraper John McClane finds himself crawling around in the first Die Hard film is known on-screen as Nakatomi Plaza; in fact, the film was shot at Fox Plaza, the real-life headquarters of 20th Century Fox, the film studio who made the film. Despite that, the company charged itself rent for the use of the then unfinished building.
So it wasn't a money-saving initiative. In fact, Die Hard probably cost Fox even more money in building costs, what with all the explosions happening for real, at full-scale, and detonated both inside and out the building. Along with Fox's HQ being the main set being a neat Easter Egg, there's plenty more nods to Die Hard's real-life location.
The addresses and phone numbers that appear on the LAPD dispatch's computer for Nakatomi Plaza management? Those are the actual numbers for management of Fox Plaza. Don't try ringing them now, it's changed; and down visit, either, because increased tourist interest from the film means people are forbidden from taking photos outside.
