12 Dire Plot Twists From Recent Hollywood Films

1. David Lives - Alien Covenant

Now You See Me
Fox

In the watchable but mostly irritating Alien: Covenant, a group of colonists and their android, Walter (Michael Fassbender), are lured to a mysterious planet by a transmission from the sinister android David (who's identical to Walter and is also played by Michael Fassbender), who is marooned on the planet and trying to escape.

In the following ordeal, most of the crew die but the survivors eventually defeat the early version of the Xenomorph that David has created, while Walter (who's benevolent, unlike David) apparently kills David.

Unfortunately, right before protagonist Daniels (Katherine Waterston) goes into cryo-sleep, she realises that Walter is actually David, who's disguised himself as Walter. But of course it was!

This one was predictable to the point of parody. Earlier on, David cut his hair to look like Walter and the end of the fight between the androids wasn't even shown; there is no way that the death of the film's most important character would be off-screen.

Worse still, it's surrounded by plot holes. Why didn't Daniels and her crew-mates check it really was Walter? How did David have time to change into Walter's clothes and cut off his hand (Walter had lost his hand earlier) before getting to the ship?

Make no mistake, this is one of the worst plot twists of all time.
