12 Directors Everyone Hates Working With (But Get Awesome Results)
10. Bryan Singer
His Reputation: Bryan Singer is something of a black sheep in Hollywood right now, because while nothing has been proven regarding his alleged sexual assault of minors, the rumours have remained persistent for years, and regardless of his innocence or not, mud sadly has a tendency to stick. It doesn't help that in 1997, a 14-year-old extra filed a suit against Singer for reportedly asking him and other young boys to shower in the nude for his film Apt Pupil. This in of itself is sure to deter many actors from wanting to work with the actor. Away from gossip, though, Singer has clashed with a few of his X-Men stars on set: Halle Berry famously told Singer to "watch black a** while walks out of here" during filming of X-Men 2, and Ian McKellen has previously noted that the director's directing methods can be challenging and not for everyone. Why He's Worth Working With: Still, he undeniably gets results, and even in the midst of the latest round of sexual allegations against him, his latest X-Men movie Days of Future Past was easily the highest-grossing film of the lot. His career will be fine, and with Singer lined up to keep the cash cow well-milked with next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, there's no way any major actors will be abandoning a nice pay-day any time soon.
