12 Directors Who Blamed Studios For Failed Movies

8. Zach Snyder - Justice League

An obvious entry here, although this is one occasion where the Director is perhaps a bit harsh on the studio considering the issues with his own work. While Snyder has never openly trash talked the final product for the film he begun to direct, his continual 'leaks' of what would have happened in a 'Snyder Cut' has proved a very clear statement in itself.

A one off 'in passing comment' in regards to how his interpretation would have been different is one thing, but the concerted campaign lead by Snyder to have his vision 'explained' has clearly displayed his displeasure at the mess that was the Justice League movie.

Initial insider reports of the Snyder Cut declared that the film was "unwatchable", although if this was in regards to the aesthetics or overall product remains unclear. It is also yet to be confirmed if the tragic death of Snyder's daughter during filming was the primary reason for him being released from directorial duties, with rumours abounding that it was instead used as an excuse to bring a new director on board.

It seems more and more likely that the Snyder Cut will come out eventually, and it seems like now would be as good a time as any. While a cinema release seems extremely unlikely, the best hope for the Snyder Cut comes through the advent of new streaming service HBO Max. One suspects there will be many 'free trial' offers utilised by customers to give this much anticipated version a view.
