Since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has almost perfected the art of crafting incredible characters, and telling simply amazing stories around them. Whether they are heroes or villains, there are some truly stunning people populating this shared universe.

However, they are far from perfect. Whether this was a conscious decision to make them flawed, a plot hole, or a retcon that didn't quite work, there are times when the audience has been forced to question what exactly was going through certain characters' minds.

Sure, the Avengers and co. have saved the world a few times, but they've also made life a lot harder for themselves than it ever needed to be. Similarly with villains, they have all been up against the odds in the MCU, but have made decisions that would ultimately backfire.

Even some of the smartest beings in the universe aren't safe from dropping the ball every now and then, making dumb decisions on more than one occasion. With the stakes being as high as they are in the MCU, questionable decision making more often than not can lead to cataclysmic consequences that could have been easily avoided with just a bit of thought or common sense.

Before Stephen Strange became the Sorcerer Supreme, he was an egotistical, narcissistic neurosurgeon, believing himself to be above others who couldn't match his own skill or intelligence. He was incredibly rich, and liked to flaunt his worth with expensive watches and fast cars, the latter of which almost got him killed.

While on his way to speak at a fancy dinner, Strange was driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic, on the wrong side of the road around sharp corners, and barely missing oncoming vehicles. This would have been bad enough but then he started looking at potential patients at the same time.

With the way he was driving, even if he had kept his eyes on the road he would have likely injured himself and others before looking at x-rays while travelling way over the speed limit, in the pouring rain, in the dark. This led to Stephen's life hitting rock bottom, and he has only himself to blame.

Though without making this decision Doctor Strange would never have become so desperate as to seek help in Kamar-Taj and become the Sorcerer Supreme, it doesn't mean it was any less dumb. He could have killed himself and taken other innocent lives with him.
