12 Embarrassing Early Film Roles Actors Need You To Forget

6. Matt Damon - Mystic Pizza

Artentertainment1.blogspot.comYouTubeAh Mystic Pizza! The coming of age classic from 1988 that no one has ever heard of! Which is terrible. People should watch it. The film is rubbish, the script poorly written and the acting hammy throughout (with possible exception of the leads), but that doesn't stop the film from having a respectable 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and a (slightly more accurate) 6.1/10 on IMDb. It's enjoyable if you're not expecting Schindler's List. One of the most redeeming features of the film is the casting! Director Donald Petrie managed to snag Annabeth Gish, Julia Roberts and Lilli Taylor to take the leading roles of the girls taking their first job at a pizza place after high school in the holiday town of Mystic, Connecticut. If that were not enough of a premise to tempt you into finding that old VHS player, this is the first film Matt Damon ever appeared in. It really shows, but then again, he was very young and if you were shout action at us under the lights, we doubt we'd fare any better. Matt Damon's sole line of "Mom, do you want my green stuff?" is moving indeed, which makes finding this cult classic a definite option for a saturday night in.
