1. Sean Connery - Royal Navy/Body Builder/Coffin Polisher
Growing up in Edinburgh Scotland, young Sean Connery had pretty much made up his mind that his only way out of the simple life of a working class hero was to join the Royal Navy. He enlisted when he was sixteen. Unfortunately, like many other showbiz names that got their start with military service it would be medical conditions that would force him into early retirement. A couple of nasty bouts with a stomach ulcer got him his medical discharge and it was back to Edinburgh where he immediately set about on a life of hard manual labor being a coffin polisher, brick layer, and occasionally a lifeguard. In his spare time he picked up body builder as a hobby and eventually won third place for the Mr. Universe Competition. This would lead to modeling gigs, which lead to acting and the rest, as they say, is history. Connery still sports two tattoos from his Navy days and often refers to them fondly. Wanting to be one of the boys in the service he got his tattoos to fit in with the rest, but at the same time wanted his ink to mean something. So the first he dedicated to his family; it says "Mom and Dad." As for the other it reads, "Scotland Forever."
