12 Film Cameos That Were Cut From Theatrical Release
6. Various (Ricky Gervais, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Danny Trejo) The Muppets
The Muppets was a critically and commercially successful return to the big screen for the ensemble of puppets created by Jim Henson. Their last appearance was in the 1999 film Muppets from Space, which wasnt particularly successful either critically or commercially and thus began a hiatus of 12 years. A fresh approach was needed and was created by screenwriters Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller. In production, a number of stars from various media made cameos for the film. For example those that made the theatrical release included Zach Galifianakis as a hobo and Jim Parsons playing the human version of Walter and while successful a number of other cameos were cut for varying reasons. The most predominant of which was to cut the 3 hours uncut version of the film down to a family friendly running time of around 90 minutes. Singer Lady Gaga was initially set to face off against Miss Piggy, while Katy Perry was apparently meant to sing I Kissed A Squirrel, while being surrounded by more and more squirrels as the scene developed. Danny Trejo was set to make an appearance as a prisoner who claimed to be a muppet, while comedian Ricky Gervais saw his scene cut but was given the lead role in the upcoming sequel Muppets Again.
