6. Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)
You have to feel sorry for Batman. After having been blamed for the death of Harvey Dent, having his back broken by Bane (Tom Hardy), thrown into a foreign pit/prison and returning to a Gotham poised for nuclear winter, you'd hope he would at least have the opportunity to claim his revenge. But their showdown, a punch-'em-up on the steps of City Hall, is interrupted when Thalia (Marion Cotillard) stabs Batman, gives us her backstory and leaves Bane to deliver the finishing blow. Just as it looks like The Dark Knight could be done for, Bane is suddenly blasted through a wall. We cut to Catwoma- sorry, I mean Selina Kyle, who is sitting astride the Batpod, its guns smoking. She catches her breath in time to address Batman, ''About the whole 'no guns' thing: I'm not sure I feel as strongly about it as you do''. If Bane wasn't yet dead, that one-liner would have surely done the job.
