12 Films You've Never Heard Of With 100% On Rotten Tomatoes

12. Wild Bill (2011)

The Film: Bill Hayward (Charlie Creed-Miles) had planned to move on from his old life after serving an eight year stint at Her Majesty's pleasure, though returning home from prison to find his two sons abandoned by their mother and caring for themselves throws a spanner in the works.

His 15-year-old boy has found himself a job and is caring for his 11-year-old brother, though they need to appear to have a guardian if they are to avoid being sucked into the foster system. Bill agrees to stick around for a while and begins to see what he is missing, though his presence has not gone unnoticed by old acquaintances.

What The Rotten Tomatoes Critics Said: Actor turned director Dexter Fletcher was showered with praise by the Top Critics for his first film behind the camera, with many questioning why all British dramas couldn't be so confidently written and acted.

Wild Bill was hailed as an unusually affecting movie with some pitch-perfect comic moments and as much heart as grit, and while the story was never going to win a prize for originality, Fletcher's choice not to focus on the hi-jinx that have become synonymous with the cockney crime caper and instead concentrate on his characters was a master-stroke according to Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Jason Best:

"Dexter Fletcher doesn't overplay the cowboy angle. Instead, he puts most of his efforts into creating a believable dynamic between the father and his sons, and it's in this tangled skein of shyness, suspicion, loyalty and love that the film's heart lies."
