10. Gasoline Is Precious, Let's Waste It - Mad Max: Fury Road

Obviously having lots of petrol in the dystopian future is similar to having lots of water: it's a power and status symbol that distinguishes classes and reinforces the reign of the strong. It's basically the most powerful thing to own in the world. So why exactly do Immortan Joe's forces so flagrantly waste it? It's the same question as runs through the entire franchise? Wouldn't it be a hell of a lot more useful to carpool and save on fuel? And what about the ostentatious vehicle that exists solely for a grotesque rock star to literally FIRE GASOLINE OUT THE END OF HIS GUITAR?! Yes, motivation in war is key, but when you've got War Boys bred to die for you who use aerosols to get in the mood anyway, that's nothing more than a frivolous extravagance. They deserved to lose.
